study for Zeus and Io Pinball Playfield
According to the Greek Myth, Zeus turned Io into a white heifer to hide her from his jealous wife, the Goddess Hera. Hera saw through this and asked for the young cow as a gift from Zeus. He couldn't refuse, so Io remained in Hera's care. She assigned her hundred eyed giant servant Argus, to guard Io. Zeus sent Hermes to dispose of Argus. Hermes apparently lulled Argus to sleep with sweet songs, then killed him. Hera was furious and took Argus' eyes and put them on the peacock. She also created a Gadfly to chase and bite Io.
